FINCA Afghanistan is subsidiary of the FINCA Microfinance Holding Company, LLC which is majority owned by the nonprofit FINCA International, Inc. FINCA Afghanistan was established in 2003, shortly after the Taliban was ousted from power, and has remained a well-established organization that exemplifies the highest social and lending standards in Afghanistan. As of September 2019, they had a loan portfolio of over $17.2 million and total assets of over $20 million. FINCA serves over 16,500 Afghan women as active clients—with a repayment rate above 97 percent. FINCA offers credit in rural and urban areas, serving the highest percentage of women clients of any microfinance institution in Afghanistan. FINCA provides women-only branch service and Shariah-compliant programs for Muslim clients.
